Fashion Dolls Take Center Stage: Collector Elisa Rolle Unveils New Exhibition Room at Historic Venetian Villa
SANDRIGO (VICENZA), ITALY – December 7, 2025 – On Sunday, December 7, 2025, collector Elisa Rolle will unveil a new "Collector's Room" dedicated to the two quintessential fashion dolls, Barbie and Gene Marshall, within the stunning 1741 Venetian Villa Sesso Bordignon.
The exhibition marks a personal and passionate journey for Ms. Rolle, whose love for fashion dolls spans decades.
A Lifelong Love Affair with Barbie
Elisa's collecting began in childhood with Barbie. Her very first doll was Pink and Pretty Barbie. She still fondly recalls how she begged her mother for the coveted Barbie Dream Store, an exceptionally expensive gift at the time. Despite the cost, her mother made sacrifices to grant her wish, and the Dream Store now holds a place of honor among her collection of 1980s Barbies.
Finding Solace in the Glamour of Gene Marshall
Following the passing of her beloved mother in 2019, Elisa channeled her grief and fought depression by embracing a new collecting focus: Gene Marshall and her cinematic friends, including Madra, Trent, Violet, and many others.
"I have always had a passion for 1950s actresses and absolutely adore the fashion of that period," says Ms. Rolle. "When I discovered the fantastic world of Gene Marshall, it felt like I had found paradise."
Starting with her first Gene, Blue Goddess, purchased in 2019, Elisa's dedication has flourished. She now possesses over 200 complete Gene Marshall dolls and more than 150 fashion outfits, all of which have been worn, displayed, and meticulously cared for.
Sharing a Collector's Paradise
It is with immense pleasure that Elisa has decided to share this personal "paradise" with the public. The new room at Villa Sesso Bordignon in Sandrigo (VI) will feature this stunning collection, showcasing the style, history, and artistry of both Barbie and the Golden Age of Hollywood-inspired Gene Marshall.
